2019 Ram 2500 vs Chevy Silverado 2500
For the drivers around Winter Haven, Lakeland, and Bartow, FL, capability is everything—that’s why many of them consider heavy-duty pickup trucks like the Ram 2500 and the 2019 Chevy Silverado 2500. So, in order to better serve you, our Dodge Chrysler Jeep Ram of Winter Haven team created this comparison.
Check it out, and then get in touch with us if you’d like to test drive a powerful pickup truck today. Thanks!
The 2019 Ram 2500 offers you two different available engines. Take a closer look at their specs right here:
6.7L Cummins® Turbo Diesel I6: This powerplant is all about towing with up to 850 lb-ft of torque, 370 horsepower, a 21,560-pound max towing capacity, and a 5,730-pound max payload capacity.
6.4L HEMI® V8: On the other hand, this monster is all about its payload with 429 lb-ft of torque, 410 horsepower, a 17,130-pound max towing capacity, and a 6,600-pound max payload capacity.
Then, there’s the Chevy Silverado 2500. While nobody would ever call this pickup truck weak, the engine on its base model simply can’t compete with what Ram has to offer. At merely 380 lb-ft of torque and 360 horsepower, you’ll have significantly less of both at your disposal than you would if you drove the Ram.
Towing and Hauling in the Ram 2500
Furthermore, Ram’s 2019 heavy-duty pickup truck has those available features that you’ll need to tow and haul as safely and as simply as possible. Chat with us if you have questions about anything on this list:
Electronic Front Sway Bar
Bilstein® Gas-Charged Shocks
Front and Rear Locking Differentials
Depending on which trim level of Chevy’s 2019 heavy-duty pickup truck you go with, you won’t enjoy comparable features. For example, while it does sport an automatic locking rear differential, it doesn’t extend the same technology to the front axle. Therefore, you can lock both of the Ram 2500’s axles so their wheels turn in unison, but you can only do that to one of the Silverado 2500’s rear axles.
Ram 2500: Two State-of-the-Art Trailering Technologies
Last but certainly not least, the Ram 2500 has two interesting trailering features: an available 360° Surround View Camera with Trailer Reverse Guidance View and a Trailer Tire Pressure Monitoring system.
Both systems will help the trailer feel more like a part of your pickup truck rather than a separate unit.
The Chevy Silverado 2500 does come standard with a Rear Vision Camera, but it’s not as feature-packed.
